About Anne and Her Work

Butterflies

Anne Morrell Goodale grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, surrounded by antiques at home and in her uncle’s antique shop. An appreciation of collecting interesting objects showing fine craftsmanship grew through frequently attending farm auctions and watching her father refinish furniture for the antique shop. Brass candlesticks of all sizes sat on a table, large crocks lined the steps to the basement, footstools of all shapes and sizes were hidden under couches, and early American tools lined shelves. The Mercer Museum of early American crafts and tools was a favorite place to visit. After attending Bard College as a painting major, Anne began to avidly make quilts and wall hangings for over 30 years during which she started a family and lived on the coast of Maine. Much of her work was inspired by nature as well as the design elements found in objects we surround ourselves with. Her quilts included traditional Amish inspired designs as well as contemporary designs inspired by Maine’s rocky coast.

The watercolor collection series evolved over a period of 10 years when Anne relocated to Western Massachusetts. Her new work began as a meditative practice of focusing on one square, one day at a time. During the years the collections were evolving, Anne became a pediatric occupational therapist. A personal mission in her therapy work with children has been to include art activities so children will develop their confidence in creating while developing new skills.

I am happy now to share the collections as archival prints on German Etching paper, exactly as they were painted, and as cards. I hope that they bring enjoyment and peace to your life and your surroundings!
